How to Replace the Exhaust Manifold on a Ford F-150

The Ford F-Series has been around since 1948 with tons of body styles and performance options available. When it comes to F-150's that were manufactured from 2001- 2003, as well as the 2004 Heritage editions, replacing the exhaust manifold can be a tricky process. For 4.6L and 5.4L engines, removing and installing a new exhaust manifold entails the same easy procedure. Keep reading for the step by step process of removing the exhaust manifold on your Ford.

REMOVING THE OLD MANIFOLD:
1. First, you want to raise the truck making sure the support is secure. Start with taking off the front wheel and opening the molding on vehicles with a 4 x 4 option. You need to unbolt and remove your front fender splash guard before beginning.

2. Next, you have to remove the nut and brake booster vacuum hose, as well as the bracket. Then you want to locate the EGR valve tube and remove that as well.

3. After you loosen the nuts, take the exhaust manifold and remove it from the engine. Take off the attached gasket and throw it away. Clear away all the debris left over from the gasket on the manifold surface and keep your eye out for any damages.

INSTALLING THE NEW MANIFOLD:
4. Carefully place the exhaust manifold gasket in the right position. Make sure it it is directly above the manifold. You should probably install the nuts by hand.

5. Then you want to tighten the nuts in sequencing, being sure to alternate sides. Next, torque the nuts in three different passes to about 18 foot pounds. After that, carefully install the catalytic converter.

6. Before proceeding to install the electrical connector, put in place the differential pressure feedback EGR system into the 4.6L engine. Beginning at the top, hand-tighten the fittings and torque the nuts to 26 to 33 pounds.

7. Proceed to install both of the fittings into the 5.4L engine. Beginning at the top, hand-tighten the nuts first. Again torque the nuts to about 30 to 44 pounds. Then reconnect the differential pressure feedback system.

8. Re-install the brake booster vacuum and hook the bracket and bolt back onto the engines. You may want to replace the front fender splash guard and/or the front wheel opening on 4 x 4 models.

9. Afterwards, lower your vehicle carefully, start your engine, and begin examining for any exhaust leaks.

How to Replace the Exhaust Manifold on a Ford F-1502000 Toyota Camry CE 2.2L 4-cylinder DOHC PO401 (1 of 2) Video Clips. Duration : 1.37 Mins.

2000 Toyota Camry CE 4 cylinder 2.2L DOHC 69,000 miles (not a CA machine) MIL engine running about 2 months for 2 days, then left. I replaced the valve cover gasket, the mechanic who served as my car had already complained. I had no problems after that. Last week, the MIL came back. I took it to my mechanic. This was diagnosed and advised PO401 now instead of the catalyst. He wanted to say, everything else looks good. Since then, the MIL has been turned off for about 6Days, and now must face again today. PO401 seems to be connected to the Internet with the EGR system and I could not understand how the catalyst is attached. My car is still running very smooth, no ping, no problem. However, the low gas mileage ~ 25 miles per gallon on the highway. It 'was not always so. Here's a video of the sites I looked at the proposal for a "coherent travel a short distance," as one of the reasons PO401. I have my car to go to the office (2.5 km) for about 7 monthsNow I do 10 miles to 2008th office. Question: Can be a catalyst for PO401? Here I am assuming that my mechanic has read and report to the OBD code correctly. 2. What could be the problem? 3. He is mentioned ~ $ 600 for the change of catalyst. Is the price right? How long should I wait?
